Lotep Achieves WLA Level 2 International Responsible Gaming Certification
The Paraíba State Lottery (Lotep) has officially achieved Level 2 International Certification in Responsible Gaming, awarded by the World Lottery Association (WLA), the leading global body in the lottery sector. This recognition confirms that the agency has successfully completed the self-assessment and mapping process regarding its policies, procedures, and practices aimed at promoting responsible gaming, in accordance with the international guidelines established by the association.
The certification corresponds to Level 2 of the WLA’s International Responsible Gaming Program, which recognizes organizations committed to implementing policies and actions focused on player protection, the prevention of gambling-related risks, and the strengthening of an institutional culture grounded in social responsibility.
The World Lottery Association brings together state-run lotteries and legally authorized operators from various countries, promoting international standards of governance, integrity, sustainability, and consumer protection. Its Responsible Gaming Program encourages institutions to continuously evolve by adopting international best practices to ensure an increasingly safe and responsible betting environment.
For Lotep Superintendent Francisco Petrônio de Oliveira Rolim, this achievement represents another step in the agency's modernization process. "Receiving this international certification demonstrates that Lotep is aligned with the best practices adopted by the world's leading lotteries. It is a recognition of the work done to strengthen governance, player protection, and social responsibility as permanent pillars of our operations."
Graziele Batista, Chair of Lotep’s Responsible Gaming Commission, highlights that the certification acknowledges the maturation of institutional policies aimed at fostering a safer betting environment. “WLA Level 2 Certification demonstrates that responsible gaming has evolved from a mere concept into an institutional practice at Lotep. This international recognition validates the policies, protocols, and initiatives developed to foster a betting environment that is safer, more transparent, and committed to player protection.”
This achievement also marks a milestone in the institution's history. In 2020, Lotep was not yet a member of the World Lottery Association. Today, as it celebrates its 71st anniversary, the agency is a member of both the WLA and the Corporación Iberoamericana de Loterías y Apuestas de Estado (Cibelae), joining the group of institutions certified for Responsible Gaming by the international body. The certification is valid until 2029.
