The Exhibition and Workshop of the Democracy Memorial of Paraíba marked the National Museum Week at the FCJA
The exhibition "Voices, Vetoes, and Votes for Democracy in Paraíba" and the workshop "Memorial of Democracy in Paraíba: Research, Education, and Right to Memory" are the highlights of the Casa de José Américo Foundation (FCJA) during the 22nd National Museum Week. The exhibition will be open to the public from Tuesday (14) until the 19th, from 8:30 am to 4 pm, and the workshop will take place on Thursday (16).
The exhibition "Voices, Vetoes, and Votes for Democracy in Paraíba," with guided tours, addresses the social processes of voting, attacks on democracy, and struggles for the right to vote. It takes place at the Democracy Memorial of Paraíba - Governors Archive, located on the second floor of Annex II of FCJA, in Cabo Branco Beach, in the capital of Paraíba.
The Democracy Memorial of Paraíba was created with the aim of preserving the study, appreciation, preservation, and dissemination of history and memories related to the dictatorial period in the state of Paraíba, including the moments before the civil-military coup and the post-dictatorship democratic transition.
On the 16th, the workshop "Memorial of Democracy in Paraíba: Research, Education, and Right to Memory" will be held throughout the day in the Juarez da Gama Batista Auditorium, in Annex I of FCJA. The program will begin at 9:20 am, with Professor Lúcia Guerra, executive manager of Documentation and Archives at FCJA and coordinator of the Democracy Memorial of Paraíba, addressing the theme "Truth Commission and the Challenges of Keeping Memory Alive."
From 10:20 am to 12 pm, professors and researchers Fernanda Rocha and Suelen Andrade, also members of the Democracy Memorial of Paraíba at FCJA, will address the topic that gives its name to the workshop: "Memorial of Democracy in Paraíba: Place of Memory, Research, and Education."
In the afternoon, from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, there will be the "Dossier on Maestro José Siqueira and Historical Reparation," a research partnership between FCJA, the Secretariat of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Higher Education (Secties), and the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Paraíba (Fapesq-PB), presented by Fernanda Rocha; "Memory and Collections," with Suelen Andrade; and "Practicing the Construction of the Source Guide," with Carolina Rocha and Eduardo do Egito. The workshop will end with a guided tour of the Democracy Memorial of Paraíba, from 4 pm to 5 pm.
Museum in the Week - The Casa de José Américo Museum will also be part of the programming of the 22nd edition of the National Museum Week, organized by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram). Participation will take place on Tuesday (14), in the Juarez da Gama Batista Auditorium, of the Casa de José Américo Foundation (FCJA), at 9 am, with the theme "Museums, Education, and Research."
During the event, there will be a roundtable discussion under the coordination of the executive manager of the Casa de José Américo Museum, Professor and Geographer Janete Lins Rodriguez, who will mediate the dialogue between the two invited speakers: historian and professor Ângelo Emílio da Silva Pessoa and museologist and educator Maíra de Oliveira Dias.
