Paraíba achieves first place in the Northeast in competitiveness and sustainability rankings and UN objectives
Paraíba was recognized as the first state in the Northeast in terms of performance in ESG criteria - Environmental, Social, and Governance - according to the competitiveness and sustainability ranking of states, released by the Public Leadership Center (CLP).
The state also ranked first in the Northeast region in the SDG ranking, which analyzes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda.
The report also indicates that in both analyses, Paraíba scored above the national average. While the national SDG average among states is 48.4, Paraíba reached 50.5 points, even rising one position in the comparison between 2023 and 2024. In the ESG ranking, the national average score of the federative units is 44.5, and the state achieved a score of 45.1.
Nationally, Paraíba holds the top position in the Clean and Accessible Energy SDG ranking. In the ESG assessment, its highest highlight is in the governance dimension, with a score of 53.1.
Both rankings result from a simple average of the scores achieved in each evaluated parameter, whether among the three ESG pillars or the 17 goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda.
For the Secretary of Planning, Budget, and Management, Gilmar Martins, the analysis provides the public sphere with an information source and metrics capable of more effectively directing the journey toward balanced and impactful growth. “We are very pleased, as this is the second consecutive year we have achieved the top position in the Northeast in the CLP ranking under the ESG analysis," he said.
CLP Ranking - Last month, the CLP's state competitiveness ranking was released, according to which Paraíba is the most competitive state in the Northeast. The state assumed the 12th position nationally, rising one spot compared to last year’s edition, surpassing Ceará (14th position).
